During the Spring Season, every rental car on the island was fully booked, and many tourists struggled to find transportation.

Many art sites are located away from regular bus routes, and while there are special shuttle buses, they run infrequently and are often full.

☀️ Why renting a car is the smartest way to explore Shodoshima

Shodoshima is the second-largest island in the Seto Inland Sea, after Awaji Island.
It takes about 3 hours to drive the 150 km around its coastline.

For example, it takes about an hour by car to travel from Tonosho Port (on the west side of the island), where our shop is located, to the famous Twenty-Four Eyes Movie Village on the east side.

While buses and electric bikes are options, consider the summer heat:

• Bus service is limited and often involves long waits under the sun

• Even with e-bikes, climbing the hilly terrain is tough

• Shuttle buses for the art festival are few and frequently packed
